Reading 10-"Doing"

 "Reading week 10"

For this week reading task we had to work on the e-book or digital book the entire year group is working together to make by everyone writing segments in chapter about our chosen topic all related to game development. In the previous weeks we had to write out the themed paragraphs into are individual section of the google document. This week was the first week back after having two weeks of for Easter so I wasn't so excited to see what reading task we'd have because they normally have a lot of writing involved.

But this week wasn't so bad, we had to create the bibliographies for the paragraphs we wrote in the previous weeks, which wasn't to difficult I just had to remember how to navigate and find things on refworks because I haven't been on it in weeks. After that was done we had to the check your understanding I already had it done but I didn't have enough questions so I had to ad more. The last thing for this weeks task was to write the author bio, which is where we write about ourselves in the third person, about who we are, what we're doing, that kind of stuff. We also had to add a picture but I had that done already. Happy that we are just fixing it up now so the last two weeks won't be too time consuming so I can focus on other subjects.

Doing, Reading 09

 "Reading Week 09"

This weeks writing/reading task was more enjoyable than previous weeks because it mainly consisted of giving critical feedback on the other year members we've been assigned to and visa versa. We had to open the shared google doc shared with us by Shaun and put all our paragraphs in under are name in the allocated chapter, this was done last week. This week we read two other students work and commented on their paragraphs. Instead of doing this on each others blogger accounts we had to use the comment tool on google docs. We had to give critical feedback so the writer could make changes to their work to make it better whether it was just a spelling mistake or they were missing a comma.

As of now the two other members of our assigned triads haven't left any critical feedback so I have no feedback to add or take things out of my paragraphs to make them better, it's Sunday now so that why I'm writing this before I forget because if I wait I'll probably submit this late. This weeks task wasn't as time consuming as previous weeks, I'm thinking we got most of the heavy lifting done already so now we only have to add pictures and bio's to the google doc so not too bad this week.

Reading 08

This weeks tasks had me a bit skeptical before starting because I wasn't sure if I'd be able to make a good, meaty and informative introduction post. I wanted to make sure the paragraph was long enough but didn't give away too much of the information I gathered for my other paragraphs in between the introduction and conclusion paragraphs. In the introduction paragraph I tried to give some basic information without giving away everything that will be in the other paragraphs where I'll go more in depth about all the themes I've gathered throughout the previous weeks. The conclusion was kind of difficult to write because I haven't typed out any of my middle paragraphs where all  the meat will be.

So for this weeks reading task I wasn't not looking forward to it as much because it didn't involve making more annotated bibliographies.  For this week we were put into groups of 3 and they were called "triads", don't know why but there ye go. The actual task for this week was to go to the others in our groups blogs and read over their blog on the paragraph work from last week and read over there themes and to give each other good, constructive feedback. They had to do the same, so I checked my blog today and both my triad members had commented on my blog post from last week.

So I read each of the comments on my blog and really thought about what they were saying this is to make our blogs missing. I think it's to get another set of eyes on the work and they can tell us what they think is missing so we can just make are writing better. For example I was told I need a bit more meat in my paragraphs, so the next time I write a paragraph I'll make sure I have more content in the middle section of my paragraph. 

After reading everything I added to my paragraphs to give them more meat, also I had to take some things away and replace them with more information gathered from reading over the studies and bibliographies

This weeks reading task was not as difficult as the previous weeks as we just had to use the work form the week before and make a paragraph related to the themes from our annotated bibliographies. It was easy because last week we had to point out the themes shown in our writing and highlight them so when it was time to go back and look over them it was very clear what was what. Originally I had three themes but last week I was told to read through my work a bit more and find another one. I did just that, the first three themes were "behavior associated with playing video games", "personality traits", "cognitive ability" and the last one I found this week was "working memory". So I had four themes to write about and had to write a paragraph each with 5 sentences minimum. When writing the paragraphs I went back and fourth from my word doc and the other doc we were shown an example on so I just tried to copy the format using my own themes.

It took my a while to be fully able to take apart the example paragraph and translate to a complete different theme, which can actually be quite difficult, but in the end i got it done and was happy with how the paragraphs. I think I got my theme across well in each paragraph. I made sure to have an introduction, then I had the information in the middle, then a justification, so something from a study and lastly a conclusion which I highlighted with red at the end of each paragraph. 

Unity Tutorial 07

I can't believe it, it's the day I've dreamed of since the day we started doing these tutorials but I disliked them so much and spent so many days procrastinating getting this work done and out of the way and I've just gone and done it, right now it's eleven forty five and I've been sitting in this seat for maybe around 5 hours, with a few breaks in between and we're done. The last two unity tutorials I had to complete well, it was actually one now that I think about it because it's the games audio, where you add background music, music to the robots to sound broken and music for when you touch a health collectible. That section was probably the easiest section of the whole tutorial.

Adding the audio to the different elements in the inspector was easy bit making sure I had everything in the different scripts was really draining having to look over everything a few times really knocked it out of me. After that I just had to go over the build settings, I wasn't sure so I had to read the section in whole so I would know what to do, I made a new folder on my laptop and then clicked "Build & Run", then I made sure it worked, and it did but I couldn't figure out how to leave the game and I got really frustrated but then I worked it out and now we're done. It's been a hell of a ride, I'm very happy it's over, ok!! know it's midnight and I'm going to start the writing task for the week that's due tomorrow so thanks for being here goodbye!!.

Unity Tutorial 06

In this weeks unity tutorials I was in the zone trying to get them done but I ran into some major bumps that held me in a spot for a while, when I was trying to add the public image mask to the health bar script it just wasn't working and I couldn't figure out why so I went back a few steps and read everything again, and again, and I still couldn't figure out why so then I decided to delete the last few steps and do it again and read it really, really carefully and still, nothing. Eventually after reading after that step it mentions in a paragraph that if it comes up in the unity editor that this is wrong replace it with this, I did and that worked and I finally saw hope to get this done.

That part was called user interface and head up display, the second unit of work to do in unity this week was was dialog raycast. In that section of the tutorials we had to add another character to the scene called Jambi the frog, what a stupid name for a frog, "Jambi" anyway, we then had to add a text box above him saying something so when Ruby would walk up to the frog the text box would appear over the frogs head.  That took me a while to figure out the anchors again but after a few minutes I remembered how from the previous section.
